Most disability groups ski under the umbrella of B.C. Adaptive Snow Sports. Local mountains run community programs for Blind skiers, Amputee skiers, cognatively challenged skiers, Autism and Sit skiers who ski in a mono or bi sit ski. We inspire a passion for participation in adaptive snow sports for all. BC Adaptive Snow sports (formerly Disabled Skiers Association of BC) was formed in 1973 and is a registered charity. As a provincial organization we are Responsible for the development and support of adaptive snow sport programs throughout BC. In partnership with local clubs and hundreds of volunteers we provide opportunities for all persons with a disability to enjoy the freedom and therapeutic benefits of skiing and snowboarding.
Would you like to learn to ski or snowboard? Our adaptive programs are offered by trained volunteers who are enthusiastic about sharing their love of skiing and boarding. Lessons are offered on Grouse, Seymour and Cypress Mountains and the programs take place on weekends and in the evenings. Our programs are open to people of all ages and all disabilities.
Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks is a non-profit organization whose focus is to provide opportunities for people with a wide range of disabilities to participate in adaptive snow sports and recreation programs at Sun Peaks Resort. A primary role of Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks is to serve the needs of people with disabilities in the community of Kamloops and surrounding areas. For example, one of the major goals of the program is to work with students with disabilities in Kamloops and the surrounding area, allowing them to experience The freedom, joy and satisfaction of skiing with their classmates.
